The run/walk is a hilly, but beautiful, 5K course through the "Apple Capital" of Minnesota - La Crescent. Each entrant receives a long-sleeved T-shirt and a bag of local apples. Prize money is given to the top three male and female finishers as well as medals to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Proceeds go to the La Crescent Foundation, La Crescent Animal Rescue (for the new shelter), and towards two college scholarships (one male and one female). A memorial will also be given in Marti Sandvik's name to the La Crescent Library for the years she distributed posters and entry forms. This is the 12th running of this race
